Mural artist paints a bright future

20160930_112754GSI are extremely proud to feature this wonderful mural (pictured above) at our new training centre in Nerang.  It was painted by Jacob McCarthy, a most talented artist who paints for fun.

When we met Jacob, he was looking for employment and was struggling like many of our youth living on the Gold Coast.   For the last nine months, Jacob had been applying for jobs without much success.

In preparing our GSI training centre for operation, we decided on a mural to feature, brighten and enhance our centre.  This presented an opportunity to Jacob and we are so thankful that Jacob accepted.  As you can see – Jacob did a super job!  He listened to our GSI story and if you look closely you’ll see how Jacob portrays the GSI story and brand through the painted mural.

Jacob’s long-term goals are to be a business owner and to inspire and help others through his business ventures.  Short-term goals are to complete his accredited Certificate III in Surface Extractions operations and the advanced course.  Clear outcomes for Jacob are employable skills to work for our clients who hire our GSI students.

Jacob is 20 years old and is the eldest of two boys.  Originally from NZ he moved to the Gold Coast in 2013.  In addition to his love of painting, Jacob’s interests include basketball, movies, hanging out with the family and chilling with his cousins.

GSI is proud to be part of Jacob’s journey and we know he has a bright future ahead – watch this space!

  • He really enjoyed going to work there and having a purpose, which is what our young adults need PURPOSE, they start to goal set and they can see a future for themselves, this is what we want for our children, a future. Good luck to everyone that runs GSI and everyone that attends.
